Hanne Brenner

Hanne goes for gold

Double Paralympic gold and team silver medallist Hanne Brenner will be in London next summer if her championship horse, Women of the World, is fit. Life Data Labs, the producers of Farrier’s Formula®, is proud to be sponsoring the pair from Wachenheim in south-west Germany.

Hanne is a nine times German para-equestrian champion since 2002 and an individual gold and team silver medallist at the 2009 European Championships in Norway and 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, USA. Since 2007 she has ridden the horse “Women of the World” and won 15 international medals, including seven golds! The pair also regularly competes successfully in advanced level dressage competitions.

But the 16-year-old chestnut Hanoverian mare, by “Walt Disney” out of the “Pik Bube” mare “Pik Lady”, has a history of hoof problems. She was suffering from laminitis six months before Hanne bought her in 2006 and, though the problem responded quickly to a different feeding and training regime, the mare showed persistent poor hoof growth and crumbling horn around the nail holes.

“I used lots of products containing biotin and even tried using biotin alone, but without any obvious success,” says Hanne. “It’s only since I’ve been feeding Farrier’s Formula® Double Concentrate” in combination with the application of “Life Data Hoof Dressing” that there’s been a real noticeable improvement in my mare’s hooves.” Now Hanne is confident that “Women of the World” will soon have normal hooves – ideally in time for the London Paralympics.

With many other successful stories to look back on, Karen Zetsche, Life Data Lab’s European Sales Representative, shares Hanne’s confidence. “It’s great to see the mare’s progress and I’m delighted we can help them both realise their full potential. Of course, everyone at Life Data Labs is keeping their fingers crossed for London 2012.”

“Farrier’s Formula®” was created 30 years ago by Dr. Frank Gravlee, founder of Alabama-based Life Data Labs, to promote healthy dermal tissue in horses. He tested blood collected from hundreds of horses to determine which nutrients were lacking in horses with poor-quality hooves. The supplement has been the number one recommended product by US farriers for 12 consecutive years.

Hanne Brenner has been partially paralysed from the waist down resulting from a fall while eventing at Luhmühlen in 1986. Riding took a back seat for the next ten years, during which Hanne became a keen wheelchair basketball player.

It was 1998 before she had a horse of her own again, but it did not take long for the competition bug to bite. The following year, in Denmark, she won her first world championship. Hanne now works for Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz, which is a big supporter of her sporting career.

Chester Weber - Four-In-Hand Driving Champion

Chester Weber

Chester Weber

Chester Weber

Born in Florida in 1975 and raised on the family thoroughbred stud farm he soon found his passion for horses and became one of the Worlds leading equestrian drivers. Chester Weber is a seven-time United States National Four-In-Hand Driving Champion.

Chester is the youngest driver to ever qualify for a World Pairs Driving Championship but this is only one example of the amazing long list of his career achievements. Now ranked the World's number 5 he is actively competing and also training international teams at top equestrian events.

Weber’s horses, including his star 2008 USEF Horse of the Year "Jamaica", rely on Life Data Lab’s Farrier’s Formula Double Strength to maintain healthy hooves. The stronger connective tissue also reduces the incidence of injury to Chester's horses and accelerate the recovery time if injury occurs.

Weber, a 2008 USEF Equestrian of Honor and the first American to earn an individual medal at the Four-In-Hand World Championships in The Netherlands, is pleased to continue his partnership with Life Data Labs. “We have had tremendous success using Farrier’s Formula Double Strength on all of our horses over the years, and I am honored to continue such a long and prosperous partnership with Life Data Labs,” Weber said. “As I look toward 2010 it is important for me to have sponsors on board who believe in setting goals and accomplishing them, and I know Life Data Labs is such a company.”

Life Data Labs, Inc, makers of Farrier’s Formula®, Farrier’s Formula® Double Strength, Barn Bag®, Life Data Hoof Disinfectant(TM), The Right Step®, and Breeder's Formula® has been a Team Weber sponsor since 1997 and will continue to support the high-profile team as they head into 2010 and beyond.

Hoof Supplement Takes on Mammoth Challenge

For visitors to Cottbus Zoo in eastern Germany, watching the elephants bathing in the river is a big attraction. But when 42-year-old Karla developed foot trouble, it looked as if elephant bath time could soon be a thing of the past. The zoo’s director and vet turned to Life Data Labs to help solve their jumbo problem.

Elephants have been hugely popular with visitors ever since 1969, when Karla’s companion Sundali moved into her new home, set in beautiful parkland between the River Spree and Cottbus’s Branitzer Park, about 140 km south-east of Berlin. So Karla’s health was a big worry for Dr Jens Kämmerling, Cottbus’s young and enthusiastic zoo director.

“Older elephants in particular often suffer from various toe nail problems,” he says. “Karla showed plenty of toe horn growth, but because the horn was of poor quality her toes kept developing cracks and holes in the toe wall.”

The zoo’s vet recommended adding the equine hoof supplement Farrier’s Formula to Karla’s feed. Since the Life Data Labs product worked so well for horses, maybe it could help elephants too, he thought.

After about a year on the hoof supplement the elephant’s feet are in much better shape and Dr. Jens Kämmerling is very happy with the results. “You can see and feel the improvement in the horn quality and Karla no longer needs any veterinary treatment for her feet. “On the basis of our experience, I can recommend Farrier’s Formula without reservation.”

“We knew Farrier’s Formula was a huge success, but we’re thrilled that it’s equal to such a mammoth challenge,” adds Life Data Labs’ European Representative, Karen Zetsche. “And I’m delighted we could help the elephants to carry on enjoying their bath in the river.”

Farrier’s Formula was created 30 years ago by Dr Frank Gravlee, founder of Alabama-based Life Data Labs, to promote healthy dermal tissue in horses. He tested blood collected from hundreds of horses to determine which nutrients were lacking in horses with poor-quality hooves. Team Weber

Weber

Weber

Weber

Since 1973, Life Data Labs, Inc. has funded and conducted equine research that has benefited the horse industry and since 1997, it has paired with one of the most celebrated and respected horsemen in the world. This season, Chester Weber and Life Data Labs celebrate a remarkable sixteen years together using Farrier's Formula® to put the greatest hooves in the world on some of the world's greatest horses, including 2008 USEF Horse of the Year, Jamaica.

Farrier's Formula® was developed and introduced in 1979 by J. Frank Gravlee, DVM, MS, CNS, launching the "feed the hoof" approach to supplementing the diet to build stronger hooves and connective tissues. It has been the number one recommended product by farriers in the U.S. for twelve consecutive years.

It's been number one for Weber even longer. He first began to see its benefits in 1997, in his winning pairs teams, and Farriers Formula has stayed in his tack trunk ever since. It has been there for all nine U.S. National Four-in-Hand Championships; for his first team Silver medal at the 2002 World Equestrian Games, an Individual Silver medal at the World Driving Championships in 2008, and for the second team Silver at WEG 2010. In 2012, Weber took the Individual Silver and Team Bronze at the World Driving Championships at Reisenbeck. At Aachen earlier this summer, he finished in the top three individually and at the CAIO Saumur, for the first time in his career, his team lead from wire-to-wire including the tyrannical terrain of marathon. And most recently, Team Weber finished in top 3 at the CAI Beekbergen.

As a team develops, everything around them – from their equipment to their diet – must evolve with them. For Weber, Farriers Formula has proven it can go the distance.

“A CDE is always full of challenges, with footing and terrain options that demand a high degree of focus, and I have never had to worry about my horses' hooves letting them down. Farrier's Formula has been a part of their daily program for sixteen years for a reason. I can count on it.”

“Chester is honest, straightforward and uncommonly kind - the perfect spokesman for our products. In our view,” said Linda Gravlee of Life Data Labs, “he is a true celebrity and we will always be honored to be associated with him.”

That star power was evident when the U.S. team Silver medalist signed autograph after autograph at the Life Data Labs booth during the 2010 World Equestrian Games.

The winning formula to a lasting partnership isn't that different from strong and lasting hooves. It's about making strong connections. Farriers Formula and Farrier's Formula Double Strength provide nutrients, including omega fatty acids and and amino acid ‘protein building blocks’ that enable horses to generate strong structural and connective tissue proteins.

“Strong connective tissue,” Gravlee noted, “ is important for healthy hoof structure and growth as well as healthy joints and tendons. The internal benefits are harder to see than new, denser hoof growth, but stronger connective tissue reduces the incidence of injury to Chester's horses and accelerates the recovery time if injury occurs.”
